Overview
Triveni Ghat is the biggest and most holy bathing ghat in Rishikesh, situated at the confluence of three sacred rivers: Ganga, Yamuna, and the subterranean Saraswati. Devotees take a holy dip in the Ganges waters here to cleanse their sins before visiting the ancient temples.
Every evening at sunset (around 6:00 PM in winter, 6:45 PM in summer), Triveni Ghat hosts the world-famous Maha Aarti. Priests chant Vedic hymns and swing large brass oil lamps while hundreds of leaf diyas (lamps with marigold flowers) float gently down the illuminated river.
